She’s at her best. After starring in Álex de la Iglesia’s latest wild comedy, El cuarto pasajero, we went to Paris with the actress, an Etam ambassador, to show why she’s a cover girl.
She loves to travel, so, although we are in Paris shooting this report – together with the Etam brand, of which she is an ambassador – and next week she flies to New York, she is already planning the Christmas ski trip. But she reserves the holidays to be at home with her family, to decorate the house and to ask 2023 to stay as it is: “I have been asking for this wish for many years, since I became aware of how well things have always gone for me. I am happy, I am healthy, my needs are covered and my family is fine; I can’t ask for more”, she tells us, affectionately.
You are on the cover of our magazine… I suppose that after seeing you on the facade of El Corte Inglés, this must not impress much anymore… does one get used to that?
It continues to impress. Although it is inevitable, it is a mistake to normalize seeing you on the marquees because you are releasing a film or your friends sending you photos when you pass by an Etam store. It is strange… Although it is exciting, you do not identify much with that big image that you are seeing. And when I walk past them in person, I feel embarrassed in case someone notices it’s me. My mother gets more compliments for advertising campaigns than for her daughter’s new project…You are able to go unnoticed: you walk the dog, ride a scooter, go shopping… is it a question of attitude?
Yes. Under normal conditions, I have no problems. I don’t attract attention at all… I don’t go to a shopping centre on a Friday night either! You are an approachable person, how do you manage to keep your feet on the ground?
A priori, I would say that I am a fairly normal person… even more so than others who are not dedicated to this (laughs). My environment is outside the show business and my close friends, those from school, have absolutely random professions, but more exciting than mine. I am lucky to live exciting and special moments, but the rest of the days I lead a very normal life, what are called errands. You have always been very mature and focused, but lately I have noticed that you are opening up more to the press: have you lost your fear, do you care less about what people say?
I was born an older woman (laughs). I have always been quite calm and mature, although I have my things… I don’t think I have relaxed now, I still have clear limits that I don’t want to cross, but not because I want to hide things, but because I don’t talk about certain things with strangers… I am not at all shy with my environment, but talking to the press is like telling something to the class gossip. Would you do it? Of course, I don’t hide: I come and go from my house with whoever I want. What do you ask of a brand to represent it?
First, to be a potential consumer: would I spend my money on it? Only if the answer is yes, I take a step forward. I like to feel proud of being the visible face, for example, of Etam. Second, I try to create a family with the team so that these collaborations are long-term.What trends have you won over this season and which ones would you not follow even if you were crazy?
Age has taught me that ‘never say I won’t drink from that water’ (laughs). I never thought I would wear shoulder pads again and I have my closet full of them! But not low-rise skinny jeans… I haven’t gone back to fishnet stockings either.Do you enjoy fashion? You have always taken a lot of risks, especially in makeup, creating trends…
I enjoy it a lot, I like to play and take advantage of the privileged opportunity I have to access great professionals to create sessions like the one in this report. If I didn’t go to the Goya awards, I wouldn’t be able to wear a princess dress… it’s a stroke of luck. It’s an important part of my job and I enjoy it, although on a day-to-day basis I’m much more of a mess. You’ve just released El cuarto pasajero. The best thing about filming this mischievous comedy under the direction of Álex de la Iglesia has been…
He’s a wild guy in every sense of the word and he puts you in situations that you rarely see with other directors. Working with him is something unique and, although you end up completely exhausted, after a few months you forget about it and you do it again… He has a fantastic inner world and becoming part of that world is very fun. Everything he imagines in his head, he manages to put into practice on the set and that’s a rarity.Has the idea of producing ever crossed your mind?
Phew! It’s very difficult, I think I’m in pre-school production. I’m drawn to the technical side and the construction of a project, but I still have a lot to learn in front of the camera to move over, in the short term, to the ‘dark side’ (laughs).

We spent a day with the actress and Guerlain ambassador to film this 100% inspiring beauty film. We spoke to her about beauty tips, the magic of living a thousand lives, her addiction to lipsticks and her latest beauty discoveries.
“A day in my life can become a little roller coaster”, confesses Blanca Suárez (Madrid, 1988). And we can understand why she says that. When we filmed this beauty film, the actress was about to premiere her latest film, El cuarto pasajero, directed by Álex de la Iglesia (already in cinemas), and she was immersed in a kind of whirlwind of interviews and photo sessions. The Madrid native has become an essential face on the big screen, in any self-respecting media outlet and in the most coveted advertising campaigns. If her life is the roller coaster she talks about, right now the actress is linking one ‘loop’ after another at breakneck speed. And without losing her smile, mind you. Today, we sneak into a very special photo session for the beauty firm Guerlain, of which she is an ambassador, and we become her shadow from the moment she gets up until the final clapperboard sounds. What is your beauty routine in the morning? What does she usually do during the long make-up sessions before starting to shoot? What does she see when she looks in the mirror? Where could we find her after a hard day of shooting? In short, what is a day in the life of Blanca Suárez like? 3, 2, 1, action!
What is Blanca Suárez’s day-to-day life like? What would we be surprised to discover?
You’re probably expecting my day-to-day life to be surprising or exciting, but it’s much more boring than it seems. Yes, it can be a bit of a roller coaster. That could be the first definition of this job: there are ups and downs, there are times when everything is very stressful, and you go around like a headless chicken; other times there is a balance and you are calmer… and other times it’s nothing. This does a lot to you. They are side effects of my profession. The truth is that from the outside it may seem a bit chaotic but, when you get used to it, it’s not so bad.“One of the best things about this profession is that you find yourself in situations that, if you didn’t do this, you wouldn’t be able to access”, you have said on occasion. How, for example?
My profession has allowed me to live many things: many different lives in one, discover beauty products, meet people, travel the world… For example, seeing the sunrise inside the Alhambra, filming Carlos V Rey Emperador. That was incredible. I have had the opportunity to experience very brutal things. I have been in baseball fields in New Jersey, closed just for us. A film shoot opens the doors of hell sometimes if necessary… (laughs). The day begins and the alarm clock rings. Is it a pleasure to wake up?
I don’t know if there is anything that gives me special pleasure as soon as I wake up, I mean, I would like to go back to bed… (laughs). Getting up early has never been my thing, honestly. Every eight minutes the alarm goes off… and it goes off a total of five times. And there are times when it has gone off all five times and it is hard for me to wake up. I make a coffee, take a shower and try to start the day. Right now I am in that phase of trying to change my routines and I am starting to do workouts before going to work, which was unthinkable before. If I start the day with energy and physical activity I am much more awake.Finding a space for yourself, to take care of yourself, is it an option or a necessity?
It is an obligation. There are times when it is very difficult, but it is important to be firm in respecting a space for yourself, to pamper yourself, to not neglect yourself. I am not just talking physically, I am talking mentally, about you, about your energy. Not neglecting yourself is very important to keep yourself looking good. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Very little! I am lucky that I am prepared at work, so I get up, take a shower and leave as is. And then there are professionals who take care of me (laughs). What can’t be missing from your daily beauty routine?
Cleansing milk, toner and Abeille Royale oil, which gives me a lot of luminosity and juiciness to face the day. Then, moisturizing cream and eye contour. What is the best beauty advice you have ever been given?
One from my mother, which is to clean your skin very well. It is the basis for wearing makeup, for maturing with beautiful skin, because there is only one type of skin and if you don’t take care of it, you are shooting yourself in the foot. That is the secret to showing off your skin: cleansing, moisturizing and taking care of it, giving it what it needs, because it is alive and you have to take care of it.Your latest beauty discovery?
KissKiss Bee Glow in orange, Guerlain mattifying powders (they’re amazing), and metallic lipsticks. I never believed I’d wear a metallic lipstick, and now I can’t take it off! When I need a boost of confidence, a red lip lifts me up any day.Is it true that lipsticks are your downfall?
Well, my downfall is shoes (laughs). Lipsticks, too. Lots, I have lots, and it’s true that I don’t think I’ve ever used up a lipstick in my life; I’ve had some for millions of years. I like to collect them. Also, since I’ve been working with Guerlain, a whole new world has opened up for me. Now I don’t just collect colours but also the cases; they’re jewels.A confessable beauty obsession?
I’m very obsessed with mascara and with combing my eyebrows. Well, to be honest, I have quite a few beauty obsessions.A tip to show off a good face that always works.
Massage your face while you apply the cream. Always do draining massages in an upward direction… Massages save me!What do you like to do while you’re in the dressing room, before shooting?
It’s a very special moment before going out to do a photo shoot or before going out to shoot. I like to be calm, without too much hustle and bustle because I get nervous. I catch up on emails, I leave everything I have pending in the inkwell closed, so that the rest of the day I can dedicate my energy to work. What is the secret to always coming out well?
Well, the photos we see are the result of many others that have been discarded. There is a great team: makeup, hair, styling, photography… but, above all, good lighting makes your day, even if you go with a clean face. What do you see in the mirror when you look at yourself?
I see many more defects than can be seen with other eyes; I see insecurities, I see a complete Blanca, one that she doesn’t show at work.“I like to be the owner of what I want to show”, you have commented on some occasions. Is it difficult, considering what you do?
It is difficult because people always want more than what you show. There is a type of press that is very interested in digging into your private life, and you can’t do anything about that. The only thing you can do is own what you show or not.Have the networks become an ally or an enemy to beat?
They are an ally, because they are a direct window to people. You can own what you show or create an image that you want to show to the world.Have you found your best version?
No. I am very nonconformist, so I will keep looking. Anyway, what you think is your best version today may not be tomorrow. I think it will be an eternal search.Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
Of all of them, because they all contribute, even those who are more or less average. Everything adds to what you are. And on a personal level, a bit the same. Do you know what I am proud of? Of keeping my friends from school, knowing that I have sincere, honest people who complement me. I am proud of the people around me and those I love. What does it mean to you to be a Guerlain ambassador?
Belonging to the great Guerlain family means many things. It is a dream. We have been working together for quite a few years, and I hope there will be infinite more. Suddenly I look back and, for example, having had the opportunity to have designed a case for a lipstick… There are many things that make me feel very proud. What is the best criticism you’ve ever received?
“You haven’t changed.” I think that’s a good compliment. I’m aware that you can’t please everyone and, honestly, there’s no point in trying to please them. I think there’s nothing like being yourself and being true to who you are and who you want to be.“Sometimes I’ve come to think that if I stayed super still I could be invisible”, we read in an interview with you. Is this a wish you still want to make come true?
I haven’t said that in any interview. In fact, it’s a phrase that sounds like one of the characters from “Guardians of the Galaxy.” If I wanted to be invisible, I honestly don’t think I would dedicate myself to this. Although I would buy it as a superpower. Invisibility is cool. The lights go out. What do you like to do to disconnect after a day of filming?
Shower, rest, be at home, if I can go to the movies… Things that have nothing to do with this.Where would we find you?
I’ll never say it. If I say it, ugh, how am I going to disconnect! How would you like to see yourself in the future?
Being able to live through things as brutal as those I’ve lived through these past 15 years, working on this, being calm because the people I love are fine, having learned a lot and lived a lot and, above all, calm, I hope!

We interviewed Blanca Suárez and Alberto San Juan, co-stars of El cuarto pasajero, the new road movie by Álex de la Iglesia that is now available in theaters. A comedy whose filming was marked by the pandemic, but in which the viewer’s laughter and enjoyment are one hundred percent guaranteed.
You premiere El cuarto pasajero directed by Álex de la Iglesia, how has it been working with him?
A: Working with Álex is in any case a passionate experience because he is. He is someone who goes from enthusiasm to sinking, through anger, through the full range of emotions possible and the seven deadly sins. I see him as a sea captain who liked the storm. If the sea is calm, he summons Poseidon to move the waves because he is a guy who handles himself very well in the middle of battle. I think that’s why he is a director and producer, because he likes to get into the thousand fregaos. Personally, I have felt that I have gotten along very well with him and I would happily repeat.
B: It’s been quite an experience, well, it was the third time I’d worked with him and yes, he’s not afraid of troubled waters or agitation, he handles it well.We know that your characters meet through a ride-sharing app and from there feelings begin to emerge. Are you one of those who prefer this era of meeting people through social networks or better face to face from the beginning?
B: I have no experience in meeting anyone through social networks hahaha. A priori, times have changed and I suppose the way of meeting other people has also changed. Everything is evolving, I’m not going to say for the better, but it evolves somewhere, and I think many things are lost. We miss a lot by staying behind the screen, in every way, not just flirting.
A: I don’t have networks, so I don’t have experience either. But hey, he could have known by WhatsApp or by email although that has not been the case. I believe that human communication is very good and everything that contributes to making it more fluid and clear is better, what happens is what Blanca says, networks and the Internet contribute to facilitating communication between human beings or not, it depends on their use . We know that in adolescence it seems that it does a lot of damage, trying to give an image that you think improves you, at a stage in which you ask yourself who you are and then suddenly, that clashes with the real perception you have of yourself and it creates a lot of problems at that age. And well, I think like her, that there is nothing compared to you to you, to the personal encounter. If it is already difficult to understand each other in person, the more filters there are, the more difficult it is to understand each other. What do you think your characters Julián and Lorena share with Alberto and Blanca?
B: I never know how to answer these kinds of questions, but because in the end one, at least in my case, tries to be as little alike as possible, but it’s so difficult. He will have things in common, many, but I would try not to make him look alike, not because I don’t like the character but because of digging inside yourself, that he is different and further away. Of course they will be alike in things because they are not crazy or strange characters.
A: Yes, I believe that the fantasy of every actress or actor is to be another or another, but inevitably you do it and you will always be there. The best movie actor in the world, in my opinion, which is Marlon Brando never stops being Marlon Brando, but he plays different characters and who wouldn’t want to be him as an actor? Things with which I identify with my character, because I am also a bit neurotic, insecure, fearful, but of course, who is not like that to some extent? And I think that for this reason, viewers can empathize with Julián, with Lorena or with the other characters because they are human beings and in the end, human beings are different mixtures of three or four ingredients that are always the same. Most of the film takes place on the road, what was it like shooting those more static scenes, without many places where the action takes place?
B: For us it was comfortable, I think the technical part was more complicated and it was a challenge, lights, camera shots, planes…, in fact there were different cars and there were several that were literally cut in different ways to fit the camera inside and give more play to that situation because otherwise it would be very limited in that sense.
A: Sure, it’s true, for us it was very comfortable, in a car it’s great hahaha. It was a very particular shoot and, in part, a very difficult experience because it was heavily marked by the pandemic. In fact, it stopped for two or three weeks because we caught several COVIDs, including two of the four protagonists. So, the actors couldn’t eat with the rest of the team, there were isolation measures, everything was weird. We were shooting in Madrid and they asked us not to go home to sleep, the context at that time made it a very atypical shoot. Then there was also a lot of filming on the set because in this film there is a lot of post-production work and digital issues. Always the four of us, almost always together, inside the car, but as Blanca says, sitting isn’t bad.Of all the moments that this film offers, which one do you remember being the most fun to record? Any anecdote you want to share?
B: Ugh, it’s been almost 3 years since it was shot, but man, I remember when we shot the end of the movie on the motorcycle, which was quite curious because they built a kind of mechanical bull with a motorcycle that simulated that it was jumping and everything, and they put us upstairs to make some plans that could make it look like we were driving it and it was surreal, we laughed a lot there. This that if you see it from the outside takes away the charm of the movies hahaha.
A: What memory do you have hahaha. Then Álex is also a funny guy and Ernesto is also very funny and if he wants to make you laugh a lot. Even though that was a shoot where everyone was wearing a mask, it was a leaden environment. And now it continues to be worn, but there is no color. If you had a trip like this, what do you think you would do?
A: If I were the fifth passenger and I went with those four companions, I would have a good time if we are talking about a movie, if it happened in reality… not so much, it is a trip in which they hit you, shoot you, you are in constant danger.
B: It’s likely that I didn’t get to the end, I don’t get to Madrid, I prefer to walk hahaha, not because of the people but because of what happens on the way.Blanca’s mini interview
After all your career as an actress, do you think you have found the balance between what people expect of you and what you expect yourself?
No, and I don’t think it’s something I’ve ever considered. I don’t know what people expect of me, let alone myself. One does what she can as she can at the moment in which it is her turn to do it and you make an effort. It’s very easy, in the case of the film you see it almost two years later and you say “here it is…” and of course, because at that moment it was your moment, you had to do it that way and I was more or less satisfied. What do you consider to be the greatest learning you have had thanks to your career as an actress?
Well, surely what I just said, facing people makes you understand at some point in life that not everyone can like you and that that’s okay, that it’s not bad at all. And also, every day in this profession they teach you the smallest things that you thought you had already learned from home, because you have to relearn them every day. And also, you learn a lot about yourself, about how you are, about the things that you are good at and what you are not, the ones that scare you and if you do your part a little, you even learn to manage them, you begin at least to live with it.Fetish item?
The shoes. If you had to pick one look to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be?
T-shirt and jeans.Person/character that is a source of inspiration when creating your style?
I have no idea, a person never comes to mind when they ask me this question. We live in an era in which fashion and aesthetics have taken such a leading role that at the end of the world you can scratch a little.

At just 34 years old, the actress repeats with Álex de la Iglesia in El Cuarto Pasajero, her return to the cinema after the success of the series Jaguar.
With her flawless smile and resounding, classic beauty, as soon as she greets you from the bus marquee dressed in fall fashion trends, she invites you to wear lingerie or try out the latest smartphone in a press or television advertisement. Omnipresent as the image of various brands, Blanca Suárez drags 4.7 million followers pending each post on Instagram, where she is careful not to cross the red line of her private life.
But beyond that facet of a style icon, the actress from Madrid has accumulated 15 years of career and recognition, like hers, two Ondas de Ella and the Goya Award nomination for best revelation actress for La Piel que Habito. She chats with the Magazine from her house, together with Pistacho, her inseparable dachshund (“he is the king”), and hers, two of her cats, that ‘family’ that she sometimes shows up on social networks. she. “Here they are, following every step I take; whoever has animals at home already knows what I’m talking about”.
After the filming of the film Me he hecho viral, it has promoted two premieres, El test by Dani de la Orden and El Cuarto Pasajero by Álex de la Iglesia, who once again turns the lives of his fictional protagonists upside down.
Why is it worth going to see El Cuarto Pasajero?
Because I think we can’t miss anything Álex de la Iglesia does, a guy who has a gift for making fiction.Pure entertainment or is there reflection?
Álex always plays to express a little the miseries of the human being, how someone is transformed, depending on the circumstances. In his cinema the plot and the characters are twisted in such a way that the film explodes in itself. I play Lorena, an apparently normal girl who comes to Madrid to earn a living, but she gets together with the other characters and everything gets complicated. Her life will no longer be the same.El Test, its other premiere, asks if we all have a price, based on the dilemma: What would you choose 100,000 euros today or 1 million in 10 years? What would you do?
I am one of those who thinks in the million. I would wait. I would be patient, yes.He just turned 34. What adjective do you give to this moment in your life?
I would not put a specific adjective. It is not a defining moment in my life. Due to the peculiarity of this work, no stage is the same as the previous one, you always face new things. Your life is constantly evolving. But at any time, I always try to touch a lot of ground, that there is at least one part of me that is not constantly changing. With this job you will never get bored.
This hooks, it’s quite addictive, but it has a double face. Instability prevents you from getting bored, but at the same time it causes insecurity in many ways. You have to accept it.How do you live with the feeling of always being exposed to the opinion of others, the pressure on the physical?
Depends on the day and when you get caught. This profession is like that, there is no way around it, but sometimes you ask yourself: Why do I have to accept certain things? This is a job, it does not mean that your whole being has to be always exposed to that public eye, that they observe you as a human being. It has always marked the border of their intimacy. Is she respected?
One does what she can, then whoever is in front of you gets what she wants and you have to deal with it and put a stop to that excessive interest in your personal life. Nobody cares about certain information except me and whoever I decide. Anyone (I imagine you too) does not talk about their intimacy with all their friends but chooses a few people to vent. If it’s what everyone does in their lives… I’m not going to tell them to the whole of Spain! I am very careful not to cross that private line, also in networks.Recently, she stopped that eternal “gender” question again: if she wants to be a mother. What other issues bother you?
They have been asking me since I was 19 years old when I am going to be a mother and get married. I’m surprised they keep insisting. It doesn’t happen with boys. They are asked about their personal life, but there are questions that they continue to label as “women’s”. In my case, seriously, every time they see me, the question falls. It is a very crazy thing. I think it is something that should not be asked of anyone, out of politeness. They are violent topics, very personal and that do not concern anyone. They are not light questions.Where do you want to direct your career? Jump to Hollywood? Television, cinema?
In this job, I don’t see it clearly to mark a path for you. Fantasizing brings with it frustration, if you project something and it doesn’t happen. It’s such an uncertain profession that this afternoon I could receive an offer or a film that’s already closed suddenly drop. My experience tells me that the most practical and healthy thing is to decide on what comes up. Fewer headaches. Yes to be clear here yes or here no, but life itself is a surprise.Any red lines?
No, not a priori, for the same reason. You have to see yourself in situations, what life brings you or what it doesn’t bring you and what you must agree to do.Jaguar provided projection without leaving the country: the powerful global television against the cinema in crisis. Lately he has opted for the cinema. Do you have any series in sight?
Right now no, I have coincided with a lot of cinema, true. One does what is left, depending on what you are valued for. After the pandemic, a lot is produced, but theaters still need an audience. Although platforms are here to stay, cinema must coexist with them. I wish. When did you decide on this job?
It was emerging. When I was 7 years old I wanted to start theater because my friends had a great time. He could have stayed in one more after-school, but he hooked me. From there I went to theater school, then to a micro-company, to a test… and until now.How do you build the characters?
Depends. Sometimes you have to document a lot, other times it’s one hundred percent fiction and you create from scratch. Dedication, the same, because you have to be serious and rigorous, but each role and project require different energies.Do you prefer the director to give a lot of directions or freedom?
The more information he provides about how he wants things and guides you clearly, the better. He is the boss and you have to pay attention to him. The best thing is that the whole team flows, the more flexibility we all have, the better because we all contribute things. I don’t have the absolute truth, my work is also nourished by makeup and hairdressing, by the director’s notes…With Almodóvar or De la Iglesia I imagine that you have to be docile.
With all directors, and especially with such iconic filmmakers and with such particular worlds, one has to know who is in front of them and what they want. You must be open to entering his world, not fighting to do something else. His world is this, you know in what code you are moving. In general, in life you have to know how to place yourself, in everything.Looks like he gets it…
I try to be sane and located, because the profession already has a good part of madness. But I try not to let my work be governed by that because it’s like a kind of recipe in which you have to put the right ingredients for each thing, so that you don’t miss too much of anything. What is wrong with this job?
The schedules! Well, it is better to say the uncertainty. Knowing that today you have a job and maybe tomorrow you won’t. But when you are already in flour, rolling, the change of schedules makes your body and your vital energy go crazy. One day you have to be like a rose at five in the morning, another day the other way around. You must be very flexible and surrender: it is so.He has said that he tries hard to keep his feet on the ground. How do you get it from the bubble of success? Her boyfriend is also an actor, Javier Rey, his day to day is special, between events…
Look, I would turn it around. In my life, the most real thing is my little personal bubble, where I am, my friends from school, my family, my animals, my house. Where my refuge is and people look at me with the most real eyes. The other part of my life is a reality too, it’s not fictional, but it’s my job, which is really cool and fun, it allows you to be whatever you want. But real life is when you wake up with your makeup off and make yourself a coffee. What would you say is missing from your life?
I think it would be bold to ask, from the privileged place in which I find myself. We all want more, of course, in the good sense of the word. Let things continue to happen to us, but I always tell myself: ‘Appreciate what you have more and don’t ask’. And if you don’t ask, maybe surprise things will come to you that are even cooler. What can’t you stand in others?
The little honesty, the lack of sense of humor. And also the people who talk nonstop and don’t listen. What would be your life motto?
I don’t have slogans, because what works for you today probably won’t work for you tomorrow. What are you afraid of?
As a child she was very afraid of the dark, something of that still remains. But above all, my great fear is that the people I love will disappear. What is your best virtue?
I think calm, in general. I lose it from time to time, like everyone else, but broadly speaking it could be that one. Let’s see, we all have a little bit of stress, but when the press asks you, you’re not going to tell them about your miseries either. What would you change about her character?
I would like to be less lazy.Do you feel that your beauty is emphasized more than your talent?
I haven’t really felt that way. I think there has been a balance in that sense, for how these things are usually handled in the media. I have been complimented and that, why not say it, is fine. But I also felt taken seriously. And that they talked about my work. Sometimes certain media focus more on the physique, but in a more gossip way, that if I’m plumper or I wear such makeup, it’s those kinds of headlines. What worries you today?
Wow, I have quite a long list. Since I can remember, I seem to remember that this is the moment that, at all levels, causes me the most surprise and stupefaction. I’m surprised. And every day that passes, oysters, the planet surpasses you. In all senses, political, social… My head is starting to explode. I would be unable to list now, it would require a thorough discussion. My goodness, we have to focus a little, because we’re going to shit. It’s heavy metal. The human being is reaching a rather stratospheric limit. Everything is in danger, everywhere.Disappointed in politicians in our country? Who gives you confidence?
Trust… man, I have hope because since I’ve lost it completely… The political world is something that I talk about, debate, in my personal life, but publicly it’s something so tricky… and it’s sad that it’s like that, huh. but to enter depending on what debates, it’s not that I don’t feel like it, because one would start talking and could blurt out anything. But I think it’s better to do what you have to do in private. That is my option today, tomorrow who knows. In Jaguar, she is a Nazi-hunting spy. Are you worried about the rise of the extreme right?
Sure, of course. She worries me about everything, machismo, war conflicts… I encompass it all in that surprise that basic things, drawers, values with which my parents have educated me, are suddenly in danger. How should we respond?
I wish I had an answer. She would have done it already. We live in an age of individualism. Or we move as a group and look at each other without thinking only about our good or bad future, we and the entire planet. Very uncertain, I see it that way.He has 4.7 million followers on instagram. On ‘lazy’ days, do you protect yourself from the networks?
Neither on good days nor on bad days do I pay too much attention to comments. Luckily, they are usually wonderful but there are also those that are not. Networks are complicated. The good is not so good and the bad is not so bad. Posting comments on the Internet is very easy and sometimes we are not aware that what we write can affect the person. I don’t look at the comments in detail, I don’t think it gives me much, either for better or for worse. I include the compliments. It is precious and to be thankful for and the ego must be fed, but you cannot feed yourself only on the good, on people who, even if you do things wrong, will tell you: “it doesn’t matter, it’s great!” What is the percentage of reality in the comments? This high number of ‘followers’ can be useful in social causes. Do you use that power?
In private I participate, I am active, but I have never known how to use my visible face to support causes. Being a champion of certain struggles, publishing it on the networks is difficult for me, I do not know very well how to manage it. What do I participate in and what not? I have the dilemma of not knowing how to do it, so for now I do it privately. It is a pending subject for me. There are a lot of people who are mean with themes and I have to learn from them how they do it.Have you experienced any harassment denounced by “#Me Too”?
No the truth is no. Luckily I haven’t seen it nor has it happened to me.How do you imagine yourself in 20 years?
I can’t imagine… 20 years ago you told me what I was going to do and I would have been amazed. In 20 years I think my life is going to change a lot, I’m sure and hopefully, not because I want it to change but because evolution is necessary and we must look for it. I hope I never get stuck. I hope to continue doing the same. But what I want most is that the people I love are well, the rest… May life surprise me!

Blanca and Rubén, Rubén and Blanca, are ‘old’ acquaintances. They met for the first time in 2015, when they shot the miniseries Lo que escondían sus ojos (2016) and six years later and in another time. Because if their debut as a -cinematographic- couple took place in post-war Madrid, now they meet again in current Bilbao and on their way to the capital, united by Álex De La Iglesia and a car-sharing application in the film El Cuarto Pasajero.
The season of great premieres in Spanish cinema continues unstoppable in this end of 2022, although El Cuarto Pasajero was filmed in the summer of 2021. Blanca and Rubén remember the somewhat eventful shooting, in those months in which the pandemic did not give truce: the actor (Isla de la Juventud, Cuba, 1984) remembers that he had to spend two weeks confined to the hotel. They both remember it, with its own interruptions from the moment in which it occurred, as fast-paced, passionate and fun, as always happens when working alongside Álex De La Iglesia.
The character played by Blanca Suárez (Madrid, 1988), Lorena, did not come to her by chance but rather received a call from the Basque filmmaker to tell her that she had a role tailored for her: “Alex called me and told me that he had written a film and when did we start”, he recalls. This actress-director duo had already coincided in El Bar, and works again with the Madrilenian acting as muse of the genre of action, comedy and… the truth is that qualifying this film within one is complicated. Together with Blanca and Rubén Cortada, Alberto San Juan, Ernesto Alterio and Carlos Areces complete the cast that accompanies this couple on a road trip that begins well and continues as Álex De La Iglesia knows how to do: as no one expected.
This trip is very reminiscent of that crazy -and always denied by those involved-journey in BlaBlacar by Álvaro de Marichalar, which is now almost part of the recent popular imagination. “Yes, it was commented on the set that it was very similar to this anecdote”, they confirm. Thus, in that car, San Juan would be the driver, Suárez has had to be the fixed passenger who travels every weekend with him, while Alterio and Cortada could be the marichalares that disrupt a normally calm route. And, from that afternoon on, it ends up transformed into a road movie as wild as it is delirious because, between the action scenes, romanticism sneaks in and, of course, that trademark black comedy.
“Working with Rubén is always such a good vibe”, confesses Blanca. “It’s all relaxing, it’s cool that on a shoot, which is always a place of great stress and in a hurry, to have someone next to you who transmits so much peace”, she adds, while the actor laughs and says “yes, I’m always calm. Also, I feel very comfortable with her. And the same calm that I transmit from her I can also feel with her”.
That calm was not bad for them to work with Álex De La Iglesia, who is said to be one of the filmmakers who puts the most passion into his work. Passion and intensity, of course: “He doesn’t disappoint, he’s always on top. It’s a real experience, sometimes wonderful and sometimes it makes you suffer a bit because their stories, the scripts, are not usually easy. He not only writes what comes into his head, but he also does them”, says Blanca, emphasizing this last word a lot. “He is a very energetic and super enthusiastic person, he is almost like a child. When he likes something, he lets you know, but when he doesn’t like something that much, too. It’s very intense”, she concludes.
“I really like those moments of high energy”, adds Rubén. “You have to understand that this is not personal, that it is his job and he does it that way. I identified those most tense moments with the army, in his day I had a captain who was spectacular, he gave the orders and then he laughed. When I saw Álex giving the orders, I imagined him laughing inside”, recalls Rubén.
It was an intense and fun shoot, a spirit that is transferred to El Cuarto Pasajero, with moments of humor and a mess that escalates exponentially as the minutes go by. In fact, there are sequences in which you think you can’t get more complicated and, in effect, the complication goes up a notch.
Although it is very much a thriller, Blanca Suárez confesses that, when Álex De La Iglesia gave her the first script, he told her it was a romantic comedy. “But when I saw the first pass, I suddenly understood: yes, it is. It’s a romantic thriller ! There is some romanticism that is maintained throughout the film but during filming, as it was hard, I came to lose”, she explains. Yes, as surprising as it may seem, love is between chases, misunderstandings, cheating and A LOT of punches. The ones that Rubén also receives, whom practically all the characters end up hitting at some point. “And, in fact, Carlos Areces broke my face in one scene!” She remembers between laughs.
“I think people are going to have a great time”, says Blanca. “They leave laughing, it is a very enjoyable movie”. However, Rubén goes further and assures that there is a ‘very Álex’ residue left after having seen her. “It’s not just having a good time at the movies”, he says.
Both Rubén and Blanca are comfortable in this hybrid genre between comedy, romance and action. Although they recognize that making people laugh is not easy. This is where, in addition, they come face to face with whom they themselves have defined as ‘heavyweights’ of acting, Ernesto Alterio and Alberto San Juan, great actors, also in comedy. “Everything comes naturally to them”, admits Cortada. “It comes from within, they are so good that they handle the times and the phrases in an incredible way. Sometimes, Rubén and I would laugh watching them perform and we would hopefully one day turn out like them”, she adds.
“It’s a lot of fun to make others laugh, but it’s also very difficult”, admits Blanca. “Sometimes, something going well in comedy depends on two looks not crossing, it’s a very delicate line”, completes Rubén, who also confesses that at some point he ‘lent’ his character a spontaneous laugh that came out while filmed, and which was kept in the final footage.

We interviewed one of the most recognized actresses in our country. The film El Test has just premiered, and we have talked with her about this and other projects, about how she feels at this point in her career and how her personal and professional future looks.
It is said soon, but it has been 15 years since we “met” Blanca Suárez (Madrid, 1988). The quotation marks refer to the metaphorical nature of the matter, because it was through the televisions of our respective salons that this actress sneaked in, that she began her career playing Julia Medina in the successful series El Internado. Blanca arrived like a hurricane at Laguna Negra school and, from that start, that could well be the description of what her career has been (and is being, wow): a real hurricane.
As expected, years later she received the recognition she deserved: the 2011 nomination for a Goya for Best Newcomer Actress, thanks to La piel que habito (2011), by Pedro Almodóvar, and from that year on we saw her in many and diverse projects, such as in the series El Barco (2011) and Las Chicas del Cable (2016) or in films such as Los amantes pasajeros (2013), by Pedro Almodóvar, Mi gran noche (2015 ), by Álex de la Iglesia or El Bar (2017), also by Álex de la Iglesia. And these are just a few examples, because her non-stop translates today into an imaginary that we all have very clear: if it comes to naming one of the most recognized Spanish actresses in the country, she is on the list.
This woman is about to turn 34 and, now, which is when she defines her medium-term future as “calm”, she is not lacking in projects either: she has just premiered El Test, by Dani de la Orden, “a very funny film, but that also makes us reflect on the nature of human beings”, as he says. In it, she shares the stage with actors of the stature of Alberto San Juan, Miren Ibarguren, Carlos Santos and Antonio Resines, and we have had the opportunity to chat with her about this and other projects, as well as her current situation, about how she is doing thirty and how what ‘is coming’ is presented.
How was your summer?
It has gone quite well. I managed to go away and spend a fairly quiet ‘little month’. Sometimes, it is good to disconnect and get out of your normal environment a little to get away from your life, see it with perspective and come back with enthusiasm. And have you brought any reflection?
Not especially. I know it’s okay to spend time doing reflections for one. But vacations are also to rest… from you. So, I’ve rested from myself (laughs). I give a lot of thought to things and to the head and others. Putting yourself ‘in plan’ flat encephalogram is also necessary, and that is what I have done.Tell us about your next premiere: El Test.
It is a very funny film, but it also makes us reflect on the nature of human beings and how we really are, I mean: just put yourself in a position that is apparently quite absurd or banal – such as the one that arises in the movie– so that our true selves come out there. And in this movie the true being of all its characters comes out. In general, it is very curious to see ourselves in different situations to know what we are like and what foot we limp on… We can get surprises…Would you say that you are in a good vital moment?
Yes. Although I don’t think I’ve been in a bad time in life in general. I think that in the end everything is like a roller coaster that, if you push me, even goes for days. In other words, we don’t wake up one day the same as the day before. So, I think I feel happiness every day and every moment, but come on, being calm…, it’s enough for me.How would you describe the current moment in your career?
Like a serene moment, really, because there have been some very stressful moments. Luckily, there are projects, but there is also a calm and for my part there is not much anxiety to do and achieve things or cover stages or things like that. This is a profession in which things appear, you can provoke them or look for them, but you also have to be very aware that there is a part of “surrendering to what comes”, which is inevitable, because normally the decisions in our work do not You take them: they think of you and propose to you. I think I’m in a kind of change of stage or getting closer to something… I’m not 20 anymore and I guess I’m getting closer to something that I don’t really know what it is, but I’m growing. You say that you are no longer 20 years old, how are you doing in your thirties?
Well, the truth is that quite well. I’m not one of those who turned 30 and suddenly had a ‘shock’. I have more now than when I turned 30, suddenly, in October I am 34. And you see that you move forward and that you were no longer 29 yesterday. It is a rare moment. It is also true that the 20 of us now… I see them older than when I had them, they give us a thousand turns to those of us who are 10 or 12 years older. And what do you think 16-year-old Blanca would think of what you’ve achieved so far?
She would freak out. I think she would be quite surprised. But not because of the “how strong, my dream was” thing, but because of being totally surprised, because in the end life went there. At 16 she didn’t have any flowers at all. She did not project me with 34, but go, I think that Blanca would be in plan: “How strong everything that has happened to you.”We’ve been quite surreal for two years, how has the current context affected you?
I consider that whoever says that this has not changed him, that it has not meant, no matter how small, some change in his life, is impossible. But I’m looking at it more in the long term. When all this madness started, “I didn’t go crazy”, but it has left a lot of fear and changes in the way we relate to the world, to people, the way we manage being with many people or with little, making many long-term plans…If you stop to think about it, what does it mean for you to be one of the best-known actresses in the country?
I think that one is not very aware of this, because in the end, since you have been working for so long and things are happening so little by little and it has not been something like: “I do this job and suddenly… it takes”, It’s been like little by little, it’s something I’ve been living with. Then, too, my life is quite closed, in the sense that my circle is what it is. New people are coming in and such, but I’m not very aware. That’s also good for mental health, right?
Yes, of course, of course. What would you say have been your best work experiences?
One of the best things about this profession is that you find yourself in situations that, perhaps, if you didn’t dedicate yourself to this, you wouldn’t agree, nor would you experience ‘random’ or special situations. For example, I remember that once they opened the Alhambra just for us, to shoot at 5am, and we watched the sunrise from there. In other words, that of going to locations that you can only access, for example, in a helicopter at an hour, or entering places that only open you because you are going to do a shoot, because it is you, and that they also love to teach you … Is incredible. You also have the chance to travel the world and meet people you’ve only seen in magazines or that you’ve followed since you were a little girl… So, I’ll stick with that.Something more banal… have you left your bangs, for something specific?
Because she was bored as an oyster. Do you know that feeling of looking in the mirror and saying: I’m bored? It had been a long time since I changed my ‘look’, too, and I said: why not. And I started to cut my bangs. You recently opened TikTok, why do you think you should be present in this ‘app’?
For gossiping, absolutely. I don’t think it’s me TikTok meat, but there it is. I like Instagram more, although everything is quite addictive.Precisely for this reason, and for mental health reasons, there are many artists who advocate getting away from the networks, have you ever thought about doing it?
No. What I do is learn to live with them. If you treat them as a work or communication tool… fine, but of course, they are dangerous. And you realize that, above all, if one day you forget your mobile phone at home or you are aware that you resort to it in general and to social networks in moments of boredom. I mean, not because you’re going to see something, it’s that you don’t even open it wanting to see it. It is that you open it because you cannot wait two minutes looking at the horizon or you cannot get into a taxi without opening the phone. And you see things and you don’t even pay attention. If you think about it, it’s a bit ‘heavy’. And then also because it affects your vision of yourself…What do you expect from this last quarter of the year?
Well, close it very well. Things are going very quiet. I seek to locate myself, it has been a very disconnected summer. I think we have to refocus and yes, there are projects. We will premiere in October El Cuarto Pasajero, by Álex de la Iglesia. And nothing, I feel like picking up the pace because I’ve seen things with perspective. You also place yourself in another place, you see the people who come, so you also place yourself in another place. They bring the intensity…What resolutions do you have for September?
None especially, keep flowing!

Blanca Suárez triumphs as a Cazanazi vigilante in Jaguar, the new Netflix series, and she already has two films pending release. She says that she prefers not to stop. Everything she does transcends and what she touches turns to gold.
He assures that it is quiet, but sometimes it buzzes inside. Nobody would say. It can’t stand heavy people, or those people who repeat things a lot. “I need calm people around me, who don’t hound me”, she warns. Almost everything he does or says – with a nonchalance that seems sincere – is followed by millions. “As the repercussion or the success of what I do does not depend on me, I do not go crazy with this either”.
In her new series, Jaguar, she plays a survivor of the Nazi camp at Mauthausen, who only lives for revenge in the Madrid of the 60s. “She is a wounded, lonely woman, who never relaxes. Until she joins a group of secret agents who, like her, seek justice”. The series has just premiered on Netflix.
“It is true that I have been working almost non-stop for more than ten years, but I cannot say if I am at my best, or that I have reached the place where I wanted to be. I have just premiered a series and I have finished shooting two films, El Test by Dani de la Orden, and El Cuarto Pasajero by Álex de la Iglesia. This profession is very mutant. Everything changes from one moment to another. Now I am not immersed in any filming and that totally conditions your life. The perception that the actors are always filming. The actor’s life comes with a delay, because what you see now is what we did a year ago. That is why it is curious to talk about a current moment in your life, you always go as out of sync with the reality”.
“One always trusts that that dream project is going to arrive, but probably what you have idealized will never happen. So you are lucky enough to be called. If I have checked something, it is that work calls work. I reaffirm that you have to work and work. You learn this job by working, staying active, not waiting for the dream role or the one that best suits your mood. It’s hard for me to say no to a project. If roughly it fits me and suits me by dates, I don’t have to reject it. Normally I value all the projects offered to me. I know that I am lucky enough to allow myself to reject some work, but if it is viable by dates and there is nothing terrifying surrounding it, I tend to say yes”.
“I feel unable to say which is the movie that I would have liked or would like to be in. Today I see one that I love and I say: That is the movie that I would like to do! But the next day I see another and I also like… I don’t feel empowered to choose an ideal film, because it could act in thousands. I don’t like to limit, it gives me more pressure. For example, I see myself in something like Una joven prometedora, but also in Mamma Mia! My bow it’s very broad”.
“Jaguar is pure adrenaline. Before filming we talked a lot about the character, about what tone to give the series. We opted for action over the intimate tone. My character, Isabel Garrido, is a traumatized, lonely woman, always in the shadows, on the defensive. Her only meaning in life is revenge. She managed to escape from a Nazi concentration camp. To build the character, I studied her past very well, because everything she does in the present is a consequence of terrifying experiences Of your past”.
“I try not to have any point in common with my character, neither with this nor with any of those I have played. If you start putting things of yours on the paper, you open the door and end up making yourself. You have to get into it. You have to get into the character, and if then the unconscious plays a trick on you and you end up putting something of yours on it, then what are you going to do to it”.
“I have spent a lot of time alone, because this job is like that. You spend a lot of time away from home. But I prefer to be with people. I am not one of those who go alone on vacation. I have gotten used to being alone for a long time and I do not go up for the walls”.
“In the series there are a lot of fight scenes. I have mostly shot them myself, but with the help of a stuntman. Each of us had a stunt double for the stunts, and an action coordinator at the time of filming. Sometimes the doubles taught us to score the shot, and since I like this I learned a lot”.
“In the United States, coordinators of sex scenes are already common. In Spain there are beginning to be some in some filming, especially to reach a consensus, because not everyone feels comfortable doing a sex scene or talking about it. Yes, sometimes it’s already difficult to talk about it in your private life, because imagine yourself with someone you don’t know. It’s good to know where they are going to record you from and what is going to happen, to feel as comfortable as possible”.
“I have no idea why what I do has an impact and I have so many followers. I have no idea how success works. It is something that does not depend on me. If I put all my energy into being talked about, I would understand, but it is not my case. I can not explain it. I wish I could do the calculation and develop a formula to know that if I do this it will work and if I do this another it will not. Maybe the trick is to ignore it and do it spontaneously”.
“The bad part about exposing yourself publicly is that there are also a lot of bad ideas on social media. I show what I want to show, but it is not easy to find a balance. When you promote the conscious desire to be in the eye of the hurricane, you should know that you can receive praise but also criticism. But when you do not expose yourself on a personal level, quite the opposite, because you want to lead a discreet life, you also have to learn to manage that without you intending to receive comments, which is even more twisted. The conclusion is simple: whatever you do, there are people who are going to love it and others who are going to mess with you”.
“When I went out to the street after confinement I was struck by not feeling observed. I am not saying that I cannot go out, because I lead a normal life and sometimes things happen, but it is not the usual thing. One day suddenly I found myself in the supermarket and nobody noticed me, neither on the street… You get used to not being noticed by being looked at, and when that doesn’t happen it misses you a lot. I have a micro-place in the brain that is unconsciously pending of those people who recognize me, almost out of habit, and suddenly you realize that no one is looking at you. It is a very strange twist. Now that you can go without a mask on the street they have annoyed me again… (Laughter) It’s funny how easy it can be to disappear. To be an observer instead of an observed”.
“I am calm by nature, although sometimes I am very nervous inside. The disorder drives me crazy. Also heavy people, those who repeat things a lot are the ones who overwhelm me the most. I need calm people around me, who do not hound. On the other hand, I’m very impatient myself”.
“What I like least about acting are the schedules and being away from home. You go against the tide of the world, and that is very desperate. When I have a strong work streak there is no time for anything, neither to see your family nor to go to the gym. Lack of rest and sleep is bad for me. The other things in my profession are good. With enough rest, the rest goes smoothly”.
“I am not one of those people who felt a vocation, or who say they have always wanted to be actresses. I wanted to be an actress when I started working and I saw that it flowed, that I was comfortable. When I saw that they kept calling me to work I said to myself: That’s it, let yourself go and if one day it doesn’t flow, you look for something else. I wouldn’t mind dedicating myself to any other creative thing, for example something related to crafts, which calms me down a lot. This philosophy is very positive, I’m lucky because I have it naturally. This profession can be very frustrating. No matter how hard you try, you will not get the job of your dreams, because not everything is in your power, and you should not beat yourself up for it. The only thing you can do it is putting everything on your part to make it happen and enjoying what you have”.

Blanca Suárez, Óscar Casas, Iván Marcos, Adrián Lastra and Francesc Garrido take out their claws in the new Netflix series. It vindicates the Spanish victims of the Hitler delusion in the key of an action comic.
The Reichsadler, the imperial eagle of German heraldry, appropriated by Nazism in its symbolism, collapses on a hill and the blood accumulated in the concentration camps spills through the streets of Madrid. The header of the Jaguar series (now available on Netflix) begins with this brutal metaphor of how many faithful to Hitler found a safe corridor in Franco’s Spain to flee Europe after the fall of the Third Reich. All with an aesthetic of a graphic novel in the Maus style and to the sound of a great song by Ebri Knight, a Catalan folk punk group that vindicates in its lyrics the workers’ struggle and the republican cause. A wave that resonates in other scenes that portray this posh and lead sixties Madrid while playing, for example, Todo negro, the popular version that the band Los Salvajes made of Paint It Black, by The Rolling Stones, in 1966.
Until now, black was the memory of the Spaniards who, after taking refuge after the Civil War, ended up in Auschwitz, Mauthausen and other hells. “The story of those broken families that were lost and sold there, without a home to return to, either inside or outside Spain, has been told very little”, says Blanca Suárez about the relevance of this peripheral vision of the Holocaust.
She plays a survivor of those camps who becomes the linchpin of a kind of A-Team, and we’re already getting more into the realm of comics than historical memory, with five very different members united to hunt down those Nazis fleeing by the Spanish way. A plot similar to that of Hunters, the Al Pacino series (“I saw it before filming and it is very crazy and Tarantinian, but, although the theme is similar, in everything else they are very different”, clarifies Blanca), only that with a radically patriotic DNA.
The best example is the scene in which the leader of that team, played by Iván Marcos, draws the true heart of the Jaguar sitting in front of the painting of Goya’s Executions. “Recording at the Prado was something exceptional, a high point of the shoot”, recalls the actor. “The image and the words were closely related. Both refer to the Spanish resistance against the invading forces. The series is not based on real events nor is it a political pamphlet. It is an action thriller. But one of its great values is to remember the almost 10,000 Spaniards who were sent to concentration camps with the approval of Franco, and heroes like Cristino García, who fought with La Nueve to drive the Nazis out of Paris”.
That essence of action, the keyword shared by the five actors to define this Bambú Producciones project for Netflix, jumps from the Ritz hotel, the Piquer galleries and other iconic settings in the capital to Cabo de Gata, in Almería. In fact, Blanca Suárez and Iván Marcos film a vital trance for their characters on the Genovese beach, the same one in which Sean Connery and Harrison Ford shot down a plane with a clean gull, Nazi to be exact, in Indiana Jones and the last crusade.
Here the shootouts and explosions go from the sand to the sea, in a handful of fast-paced scenes with an engaging vintage execution. “I really like those sequences because there is risk, there is adrenaline… And because the specialists who help us are machines”, says an enthusiastic Óscar Casas, the youngest of the quintet.
His character is a collateral victim of Nazi barbarism and also of the castrating morality of that society: “He goes through life as if he were the king, with his hips thrown forward, that attitude to the James Dean but in tacky… more interesting is that he is a character ‘with a mask’, to whom things happen inside that he does not teach. I have explored toxic masculinity a lot, that reinforces how hetero he is due to insecurities or fears”.
In this tortuous path, he has the help of the most peculiar member of the group, another survivor of the camps whom they call Deaf but who is actually rather mute. “The first thing I thought is: ‘How do I do this?'” Says Adrián Lastra. “I’ve gotten into a pretty big eggplant, in fact Sordo changed a lot during the rehearsal process. My greatest fear was to find out how he spoke, but with a lot of personal study and help from professionals specialized in problems in the mouth, such as a cut tongue, I began to glimpse how he could communicate”.
The truth is that a gesture between his character and Óscar Casas’s is enough to give skin and truth to his bond. “I just had to know Oscar well and love him. It cost me little because he is a wonderful person and a super-generous actor, very much for the work of creating and playing”, says Adrián. Praise goes, praise comes. It is Oscar’s turn: “My brother Mario did know Adrián, but I didn’t have the pleasure… We connect very quickly, because we have the same humor and a very similar sensitivity. He was idyllic”.
Beyond revolvers, poison bottles and punctured telephones, the most powerful weapon in the series is to calibrate five actors as five bullets so that the whole is genuine, and with that flow that takes hold of them when they come together to pose before a camera. It was a risk, as Iván Marcos points out: “For example, Blanca and I are very different. But much. And our work processes are too. Well seen, it could have been a disaster. But it has been the opposite. Another point for the producer, Ramón Campos, who has a vision of the playing field that is not even normal”.
In this dance of double pairs, the fifth element is missing. The veteran. We take advantage of the fact that Francesc Garrido apparently embodies the voice of the group’s conscience to ask him what Jaguar is really about. Is it a revenge story? Fighting oblivion? “I think, above all, it is a series about justice. Which undoubtedly forces you to also do a memory exercise. And, although it plays to mix genres, at heart it is a classic story: some guys and a girl who look for the bad guys to do justice. The result is atomic”.
It is perhaps that conjugation of justice and oblivion that makes the series more topical. “They are universal concepts that we can extrapolate to the mild conflicts of our daily lives and that we also see in the news, in contexts of wars and major political issues”, reflects Blanca, who has worked in depth on post-traumatic stress and the life block that she suffers your character. “At first anger or fear predominates. Time has to pass for the dilemma between revenge and justice to come. When you go to sleep every night with your past, it is very frustrating to be told from the outside: “Get over it, turn the page”. Perhaps the advice we give is that acting hot does not ease the pain, going from behind with a gun does not end the nightmare. The only thing that can serve you and society is justice”, concludes the actress.
“Jaguar treats ordinary people as heroes who are capable of prevailing over their traumas and dedicating their lives to the fight against fascism”, concludes Iván: “Marvel and DC have to invent them. In our history we have examples of bone meat”. From a comic, really.

I do not know if I have a favorite character or role today, throughout all these years there are characters that you remember with great affection and then there are other projects in which you remember the experience itself more. What would you have liked to do if you weren’t an actress?
It is a question that I have never been able to answer well, because I do not know very well what it would be. I have fantasized about other professions in my head, but the truth is that here I am still entangled with interpretation…What is your favorite beauty product?
My favorite beauty product is not one, there are several, I think the one I use the most is. I actually use it twice a day, in the morning and at night, after removing my makeup. And I usually use moisturizing eye patches a lot, which decongest that area a lot. What does it mean for you to be an ambassador for a cosmetic firm like Guerlain?
Before working with Guerlain I did not know any special information about bees, I have to admit it, but it is true that as a result of working with them and being part of their family I have learned a lot of information. I did not know that they were the main pollinators on this planet. Seventy percent of plants depend on them. What are the 3 qualities that you value the most in a beauty product?
Three things that I look for in a beauty product would be obviously, that it is effective, I like that it is light and that it does not grease the skin, that you do not feel that you are wearing a product, that it integrates perfectly with your skin type. And that we also feel identified with the philosophy of the brand, with the product we are using. What do you like most about Guerlain?
I like many things about Guerlain. They have taught me that they are a brand that advocates sustainability, to protect the planet. What planet we have only one! And that we have to take care of it.
